Meetings start at 7.40 pm on the second and fourth Monday of each Month. Please see the Meeting Dates page for fuller details. Members and guests tend to arrive by 7.30 pm in order to ensure that they are ready for the meeting which will start promptly. Members also meet in a private dining room at a local public house, once a Month. This allows a totally different type of club meeting which is held accompanied a meal. This gives a totally different perspective to speaking.
A key element of this club, as with any Toastmasters club, is that all speaking is evaluated. Evaluation is a review of the way the speech was presented (not normally its content) and consists of finding those areas which came over well, alongside those areas which demonstrated a need for development. All evaluations are supportive and are intended to help speakers improve their speaking technique. It is not the role of club members to 'criticise' each other, the objective is to create an atmosphere where learning can be fully supported.
We are an enthusiastic and friendly club of diverse individuals with a simple aim: to learn, and to share with others, the skills of public speaking and leadership. We always welcome guests and new members. If you would like to learn public speaking from scratch or need to polish your existing skills this is the right place for you. Please come along and give it a try.
We invite you to have a look around our web site to find out more about our club. If you have any questions, or would like to speak with a club representative, please contact us and we will get back to you soon.
